Getting started

Shopify quickstart

Create a Shopify pre-store, choose the checkout type, configure the advertising platforms you use, then install and verify the CapiTracker custom pixel.

Before you start
  • Sign in to the Shopify store you want to connect.
  • Have the storefront or myshopify.com domain ready if available.
  • Keep any advertising pixel credentials private.
1

Add the Shopify store

Open Shopify under Stores and select Add a new store. You can leave the domain blank initially to create a numbered pre-store.

2

Choose checkout and timezone

Select Native Shopify checkout, or External checkout for a supported third-party checkout, then choose the store timezone.

3

Add advertising credentials

Enable only the ad platforms you use, add the required pixel or account credentials, and create the store.

4

Install the custom pixel

In Shopify admin, open Settings → Customer events, add a custom pixel named CapiTracker, paste custom-pixel.js, and set CAPITRACKER.businessId to the business ID shown in CapiTracker.

5

Match the real store domain

Replace the pre-store domain in Store settings with the real storefront or myshopify.com domain before testing events.

6

Verify the connection

Open the storefront, trigger a PageView, then return to CapiTracker and select Test connection. The store becomes Active after CapiTracker receives an event.

Private API key: CapiTracker shows store API keys once and stores only their hash. Never paste a private API key or ad-platform secret into browser-visible Shopify custom pixel code.
